Scott McInnis: Keep your charity pledge!

On June 2, 2004, more than a year after he announced he wouldn't seek re-election to his Congressional seat, Scott McInnis pledged that much of the $1.3 million left in his campaign war chest would be used to "seed a new foundation" on breast cancer research, education and conservation. (Rocky Mountain News, 6/2/2004)

But we have since learned that McInnis was investigated by the FEC for spending his left-over campaign funds to bankroll his wife to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. (Denver Post, 11/12/2004) He also made a sizable donation to convicted ex-Majority Leader Tom DeLay's legal defense fund. (Center for Responsive Politics)
