Talk about double-speak. One sign I saw carried by a Tea Party supporter said, "If you like socialism, you'll love fascism". That ditto-head obviously does not understand what either of those terms means. Fascism (rule by corporations, which requires the supression of democracy and civil rights) is what we had for the last eight years and got us into the mess we have now. Fascism is antithetical to democracy. Socialism is not. There is such a thing as democratic socialism. You may not like socialism, but don't equate it to fascism. The real fascists are those who will tell any like and will not stop at undermining democracy in order to preserve the rule of the corporate elite. That's what these "Tea-party" demonstrations were about. Don't be deceived, like many no doubt well-meaning but ill-informed participants were. Current tax rates are among the lowest in our country's history. How much lower do they want to go? As Chief Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously said, "Taxes are what we pay for a civilized society". If the sentiments of the Tea-Party demonstrators are any indication of our society's level of civilization, then less taxes is the last thing we need.

1often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control
-- A few points, if I may....
1. Merriam Webster's definition says nothing of "rule by corporations".
2. Fascism is the antithesis of freedom, not democracy.
3. Socialism is the control of the means of production and distribution of goods placing the individual subservient to the group. Socialism relies on class struggle to effect its means, pitting one group against another, i.e., have's against the have-not's while the ruling class consolidates power.
4. The past administration opened the door for the problems we have now. They created $500B deficit. Poor fiscal control of TARP I led to far more spending.
5. The rallies werent about current tax levels. It was about EXCESS Spending! Under just one new Obama program, my spouse is eligible for education benefits up to $43,000 a semester, $1,000 stipend per year, and a housing allowance of $1,100 a month.
6. If Obama can get enough people addicted to government entitlements, control of the people becomes easy.
Dont be deceived. We are already in debt for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. These Trillions of dollars in "stimulus" and other entitlements will need paid one day and everyone will be paying..... Its time to rally and make our voices heard now BEFORE our grandchildren are in debt for our mistakes.
