Rick Warren Responds
Bad? Brilliant?

Saddleback Pastor and Obama inaugural invocation selectee Rick Warren recorded a new video, originally posted to his web site, in which he accuses gays of having "Christ-ophobia"--claiming that all gays are "afraid of any Christian."

Does he not know that gays and lesbians are Christians in just about the same proportion as the rest of America?

Defending oneself against charges of pedophilia, incest, and polygamy
By Michael Ditto Dec 23rd 2008 at 10:47 am EST (Updated Dec 23rd 2008 at 10:47 am EST)
is what constitutes a "hateful attack" in Rick Warren's mind.

Is someone so divorced from reality and with such a skewed sense of basic fairness really the type of person to whom Obama should be offering an olive branch, let alone featuring him with the honor of giving the invocation at the presidential inauguration?

I heard the 'Christophobia' in this piece... but I didn't hear any mention of gays or lesbians. This video sounds more like an advertisement for his evangelical ministry, rather than a response of any significance to anything specific. Fundamentalist and Evangelicals, like radio talk show hosts and neo-conservatives, like to portray themselves as victims, as if they are under attack from the 'satan' of liberalism... it's all hogwash designed to control people through their fear of others.

Mute
By Ralph T Dec 23rd 2008 at 4:58 pm EST (Updated Dec 23rd 2008 at 4:58 pm EST)
This requires two actions in my mind.

1 - Hit the mute button when this hate-mongering Talibangelist steps up to the microphone.

2 - The President-Elect had better be writing some strong language for his own address to restore his reputation and his new administration's agenda after the mistake of putting this wingnut on the national and international stage.
