A proposal in Wyoming to allow pharmacists to refuse service to gay and lesbian people was rejected by the Wyoming State board of Pharmacy.

The proposal is not unlike similar rules approved recently in other states that allow pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions for birth control pills and other drugs that they deem to be contrary to their religious beliefs.

On the down side, the Board of Pharmacy says it may approve the same measure with different language when the board re-convenes. This sounds like a perfect opportunity to let your opinion be heard.

Pharmacists should advertise their preferences
By tfrsypm tfrsypm Oct 11th 2005 at 3:46 pm EDT
Maybe the pharmacists should be allowed to decline to fill prescriptions based on their personal beliefs but...I think though those beliefs should be made public. In other words, out in front of the store along with a list of the week's specials, there should be list of acceptable customers. I can use that info to decide whether I am worthy (or willing) spend MY money there.

Pharmacists should be held to the same ethical standards that other medical professionals are held to--they should provide health care to those who need it. Period.
