I wonder where we would be if Mike Coffman had lost to Ken Gordon in the Secretary of State race. Would we have these problems?

Coffman Causes Voting Problems
By Dave Felice Mar 6th 2008 at 5:45 pm EST
Does any thinking person still believe that Mike Coffman is not deliberately trying to cause consternation? He is a disgrace to Colorado, and if he had any ethics, he'd be ashamed of himself. Coffman is trying to follow the old Republican axiom that if voting is restricted, only the faithful Republicans will vote and Republicans will win. Coffman wants to be the next Katherine Harris. But at least she had the good sense to leave office as Florida Secretary of State before running for Congress.

I cannot believe what Coffman has gotten away with. It has been scandal after scandal and yet he is not only able to keep his job of SoS, but also run for Congress. Why is this? Is it that voters know so little about the responsibilities of Secretary of State that they consider name recognition over experience when casting their votes? Do the citizens care so little of the operations of this office that they don't seem to notice the consequences of mismanagement until the election rolls around? Do voters in Congressional District 6 care so much about party affiliation that they would elect a Republican guilty of numerous scandals over a Democrat with a clean slate?

Every one of these issues must be addressed for our election system and government to function with integrity. How do we address these issues?
