Has anyone else heard of the supposed petition in the works to force the city to go ahead and act on the mall development by circumventing the city council? Is that legal? I don't know the details as I heard about it from a friend who heard from another friend (so, yeah, not too reliable and not a lot of details) but he said something about a group (not sure who?) of people was seriously thinking about starting a petition to put an issue to election (I'm guessing next Nov since, there are no elections before that, right?) where the people of Longmont can vote to grant TIFF funding or bonds or whatever that would allow Panattoni to go ahead with development regardless of what city council votes to do. Anyone know any more about this? Would this be a good thing? Can "we the people" really petition for things and bypass our city council?
