Did Palin put fame before family?
Bad? Brilliant?

Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, Sen. John McCain's pick for V.P., announced on Sunday that her 17-year old daughter was five months along in an unplanned pregnancy. A wedding is pending with the father. The McCain campaign acknowledged they knew of this Palin family situation before asking her to join the Republican ticket.

For most families, having a teen-aged pregnant daughter would be a very private discourse. Instead, Palin has chosen to subject her daughter to national media attention and public discussion.

With her decision to put fame before family, and campaigns before privacy, has Palin given us insight into her true character as a politician -- and a mother?

No, she didn't....

...because it was the LIberal Blogosphere that purported that her youngest daughter was not hers, but born to her 17-year old daughter.

When the Blogosphere ran with that supposition, the McCain campaign had to put out the truth.

As I have posted elsewhere, I'm not going to get on young Miss Palin's case about that - again, the GOP is probably happy she's heterosexual.

This does tarnish Grandma Palin Conservative Cred, in that is seems she can't teach Christian Conservative Values to her own children, much less live them herself.

Questionable Priorities

The discussion among the ladies in my family revolves around the realities of who is actually "mothering" the Palin brood. It just doesn't fit into the ideal family mold that soon to be grand-daddy Palin is off to the oil-fields and soon to be granny Sarah is hard at work reforming the State government down in Anchorage. Who's running the home when these two are an hour+ away?

What is the lesson and leadership indicator of the mother of a Down syndrome infant who accepts a contentious political campaign to be followed by one of the most important "jobs" in the world? This still baffles me...
