Ah, the price of growth.

A cold air mass has settled into the valleys from Grand Junction to Glenwood Springs, trapping pollutants in the air. The temperature inversion could last for weeks and air quality officials warn they may have to call an alert for people with respiratory problems to stay home, according to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.

No one is pointing fingers on the potential culprits of the brown cloud, but let's just say this phenomenon wasn't common 10 years ago as it has been in recent years.

How long will it take a Western Slope Republican politico to announce that smog is a sign of prosperity and for those in the tourism industry to reply, "For whom?"

In the meantime, if you're planning a trip west on I-70 sometime soon, don't forget your Oxygen tank.
