Rock the Vote / WireTap magazine Seek a Freelance Video Editor
(Duration: 3 months, September1 - December 1)
About the Project:
As we witness an historic election and young voters are coming out in record numbers, Rock the Vote (RocktheVote.com) and WireTap magazine (WiretapMag.org) partnered up to support the work of five emerging reporters for Rock the Trail project.
Our young reporters are making this election relevant, fun and meaningful for new voters.
The content of Rock the Trail reporters is posted on BET.com, WashingtonPost.com, RocktheVote.com, and WireTapMag.org, among others.
The Job:
The Video Editor will be responsible for helping our youth reporters improve their videos through individual mentoring and editing.
This job entails both editing and teaching and mentorship. The reporters will be submitting at least one 5-8 minutes long video a week.
This is a contract position and Video Editor will not be expected to relocate. This position is part-time, about 10-20 hours a week.
Compensation: $55 / hour with a $1,000 monthly, guaranteed retainer.
The Requirements:
• Ideally, a film or journalism major with experience in Final Cut and iMovie
• Available to work at least 10 hours a week
• Patient teacher and mentor
• Regular access to high-speed internet
• Passion for politics and music is a huge plus
