Denver Commission on Aging The Denver Commission on Aging is comprised of volunteers who advise the Executive Director of the Denver Agency for Human Rights & Community Relations and the Mayor’s Office on the special problems of the aging community in the City & County of Denver. The mission is to make Denver the best community for older adults through education, partnership, advocacy & advising. Citizen Oversight Board The Citizen Oversight Board assesses the effectiveness of the Independent Monitor’s office and makes policy level recommendations regarding discipline, use of force and other policies, address rules, hiring, training, community relations and the complaint process. The Board also addresses any other issues of concern to the community, members of the Board, the Monitor, the Manager of Safety, the Chief of Police, the Under Sheriff, or the Fire Chief. The Board is for new applicants with sufficient background and experience to develop objective views and opinions relating to issues significant to Denver law enforcement and the community. To apply you must be a resident of the City and County of Denver and may not be an employee of the city. No member of the Board nor any of their immediate family members shall have ever been employed by the Denver Police, Sheriff or Fire Department. This is a four-year term beginning on 1/1/2009. The Board meets the first and third Friday morning of every month and conducts quarterly public meetings that are televised on Denver Channel 8. Each Board member receives a stipend of $100 a month.
