The same media establishment that's been cattily sniping at Speaker-to-be Pelosi for daring to become a powerful, successful, progressive woman Speaker is targeting her influential allies to protect Lipitor's Medicare Part D premium and the Great and Powerful McCain/Lieberman War Machine and Pony Farm. Accordingly, as a genuine professional and a faithful working girl, Tongue Twirling Tauscher aims to please. I suspect Sten Hoyer and Rahm Emanuel (D-Tomczak) may be needing new kneepads by Christmas as well.

This is why it is important to have an effective grassroots/netroots organization that will be a counter balance to the Rahm/Schumer machines.

Corporate shills in the Democratic Party will find it much harder to push their agenda against liberals/progressives if we can offer money, organizational, and intellectual/ideological to prospective candidates that we find and endorse.

"..not an organized party..."
By Ralph T Nov 26th 2006 at 2:12 pm EST
I am uncertain of the conclusion to draw from this information. To some extent it only confirms Will Rogers' decades old humor criticism, "I don't belong to any organized political party; I'm a Democrat."

This could only be one writer's unique perspective on Capitol Hill in-fighting, or maybe it confirms that California is the West Coast and not the Rocky Mountian West. I am not convinced that any writing that resorts to sophomoric slurs and insults is worth a second read.

It seems that all the Republican party and their media allies can offer these days is flippant rhetoric. Opinion is just that. Once again, when Democrats champion issues that are important to the nation, the Republicans become the reactionaries. Constantly being on the defensive in a battle of unsubstatiated words is the quickest way to lose public opinion and support. Choose those battles wisely and win consistently.

What Policy
By Blue Dog McManus Nov 27th 2006 at 1:09 pm EST
I have been enjoying the very entertaining blogs on this page, but this was is by far the best. I have not heard one coherent policy plan from the left in the democratic party in 6 years. If the democrats want to sustain their success they will have to continue to the right and follow the leadership of the Blue Dogs. If they don't the next two yeras they will alienate the people that gave them this victory, and they will get destroyed in the presidential election again. Americans want small government and strong defense, and the party that gives them that will win.
