In response to the rapidly changing media landscape, plans for "Creating A Journalism That Matters" will be the subject of a community forum.

Date: Tuesday May 6
Time: 7:30 to 9:00 PM
Location: Atlas Building Auditorium Room 100
University of Colorado, Boulder

The "New" digital media is presenting many political
challenges and opportunities for our citizen-based
democracy. Technological systems are rapidly
appearing. This shift from "Old" media to "New" media threatens to leave many citizens without the information they need.

"We are at a moment where the very survival of journalism is in jeopardy." said
Prof. Robert McChesney, co-founder of America's largest media reform group Free Press.

Addressing these concerns, speakers will include:

John Boyer, a PBS production veteran of many public affairs programs will provide
report-back to the community from the national Journalism That Matters Conference
just held in Silicon Valley California.

Alan O'Hashi, award winning writer, producer, screenwriter and now Executive Director
of Boulder Community Media will share the concerns of media makers in the "New"
media landscape.

Katie Fleming, Colorado Common Cause Field Organizer for Media and Democracy,
will describe the scope of current actions that concerned citizens can utilize to resist
further media consolidation and preserving democratic "Net Neutrality" of the INTERNET.

Henry Kroll, co-founder of Media for America and former Board member of PBS TV outlet KQED will be Moderator.
