I live in Weld County right next to Boulder County where LifeBridge is wanting to set up shop. 348 acres of primary "church" development and about 500 more in support development. Over one million square feet of commercial/church space. An events center for somewhere around 10,000 people. I've seen how they operate: A church elder was ran for Weld County commissioner and won. They then got their land rezoned from agricultural to a Planned Unit Development. They are now parlaying that into a 20 Million dollar savings by getting annexed into Longmont. When I ran for Weld County Commissioner At-Large I saw papers distributed by Weld County officials that listed LifeBriidge, named specifically, as a county social services provider. This was after the rezoning but before any real presence in Weld County and as a Church Elder sat on the county commissioners seat.
If you believe in seperation of church and state, then you need look no farther than your own back yard in Longmont to do something about it. This is the time to get active - to vote - and educate. An oh yes first things first -- help with the petition and the elections -- 4 city council seats are up for re-election.
