An exact reproduction of the original "McCain=Bush" placard seen around the world this week--get yours now in T-shirt, sticker, and other hard-to-remove forms. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the fund to defend Carol Kreck, the 60-year-old librarian who carried the original sign into history--now awaiting her court date for "trespassing."

McCain just proved your point!
By Denise Crawford Jul 11th 2008 at 10:54 pm EDT
This is a textbook example of the precise point you intended to express with your sign: McCain obviously feels he can ignore the Constitution just as Bush has. The exquisite irony is simultaneously amusing and sickening. Fight on Ms. Kreck!

Love the T-Shirt!

You couldn't have made this up

The sign was perfect enough, but her profession? Ouch! Librarians are the custodians of free speech! Not to use this dear woman as a political football, but I hope this gets tons of press!

This is why we will not reach the indepentent and cross over republican. McCain = Stalin! Stalin murdered millions of his own countrymen.
Let's try to win the mind of America. This is why I want to give up on my party...The open hate. We can never debate the issues. When we do debate, then we go back to open hatred. The republicans are not our enemy, just uninformed countrymen. We are all Americans! Let's not look petty.

Librarians are not just little old ladies

As a card-carrying member of the American Library Association, and a working librarian for the last 22 years, I am so proud of Carol Kreck.
Right on!!!

Let's Follow Carol Kreck's Example
By Bon Jul 12th 2008 at 11:53 am EDT
From now on, let's all make McCain=Bush signs just like Carol's (or wear the t-shirts) and take them everywhere John McCain is giving one of his little talks. What are they going to do, arrest all of us? The media will be there watching for an incident like this. Let's give 'em something to talk about! This is a story that should keep on keeping on.

policy?
By chad Jul 12th 2008 at 12:06 pm EDT
They said he was enforcing a "no sign" policy? Next time have a couple of people to hold up pro-Mccain signs (if they can stand it) and let's see if they are asked to leave along with you. What to do you think?

Truth Be Told
By Frank Jul 12th 2008 at 2:13 pm EDT
Representatives from Sen. John McCain's campaign said they did not ask security to remove Carol Kreck, a woman holding a "McCain = Bush" sign outside a Monday town-hall meeting in Denver.

Tom Kise, McCain's regional communications director, said Friday that the senator has a track record of allowing people who oppose him to speak out at his events.

The McCain campaign had only asked that the Denver Center for the Performing Arts complex keep people with signs out of the meeting, not off the grounds of the entire complex.

DCPA spokeswoman Suzanne Blandon on Friday stood by the statement from the day before that the McCain campaign had asked that people not be allowed to hold signs throughout the complex.

Kise said he does not understand why DCPA officials would implicate the McCain campaign because the center told the campaign it follows a federal court ruling and its own policy, which says protests are not allowed in the area where Kreck was standing because the galleria is not considered a public forum.

Kreck, a former reporter for The Denver Post, was cited for trespassing.

Carol the Great
By User from Orchard Park, NY Jul 13th 2008 at 12:17 pm EDT
I hope this backfires on the McCain campaign. Keep buying the pins, hats and shirts. Good for Mrs. Kreck. She is one courageous woman. Wish we all would stand up like she did. I am tired of hand-picked audiences that cannot express views opposite the speaker. Keep on truckin" Carol

McCain does not equal Bush.
By Charles Jul 15th 2008 at 1:14 am EDT
As a democrate I will be voting again for a Republican Presidental canidate. I really do not like Bush that much, but he was a better selection than Kerry. Now we are sending a man who has not even finished one term as a senator! If you are honest and not goose stepping to the party's mandate, then you would admit that McCain is anything like Bush. He makes decisions that he feels are best for his country. He has countless times bucked his party and voted his conscience. He is a person who would really cross the aisle. He would be respected by our allies and enemies. This is a crazy world. We need someone who is tried and tested.
