BeauprezGate's long shadow

UPDATE: Watch the Fox 31 segment.

A year ago this month, we delivered the names of thousands of Colorado voters demanding an investigation of illegal access to federal law enforcement databases by the Bob Beauprez campaign for the purposes of smearing his opponent's record as Denver District Attorney. You might recall the image to the right. From our original call:

Beauprez held a press conference in which he tried to shift the issue away from his campaign's possible criminal violations of law. Instead of responding to the charge that they acquired illegally accessed records, Beauprez claimed the alleged law breaker was a courageous whistleblower for bringing these records to the public's attention.

We need your help to hold Beauprez accountable and ensure the media and public continues to focus on Beauprez and the key issue of whether state and federal laws were broken by his campaign. We need to ensure that the focus remains on Beauprez and his campaign's cover-up.

As you know, that's where the focus stayed--at the end of a long and disastrous campaign that saw Beauprez bumble, apologize for numerous gross misstatements, and finally collapse in a frenzy of immigrant and law-enforcement smearing nonsense, he lost the election by an historic margin.

And today, a year later, the other shoe dropped.

Cory Voorhis, a federal special agent who allegedly provided the Bob Beauprez gubernatorial campaign with information about plea agreements, has been charged with three federal misdemeanors for exceeding his authorized access to a government computer.

Each count of the charges, brought by Wyoming acting U.S. Attorney John Green, is punishable by one year imprisonment and/or a fine not to exceed $100,000. The Colorado U.S. Attorney's office had recused itself from the case.

Voorhis, 38, is a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He is accused of using the National Crime Information Center database to search for information on an illegal immigrant that was then featured in an attack ad aired by Republican Beauprez's campaign last year.

As turns out, we weren't "bed-wetting, pampered liberals" after all. Or maybe we are, but at least we were right--which feels pretty good at the end of the day.

Federal crooks
By Renee Still Day Oct 26th 2007 at 11:17 am EDT
It's very satisfying to get some positive feedback on an issue that we (I) felt was forgotten at this point. Thank you for your update and it gives us a boost in energy to keep fighting the good fight to get our country back from these unethical, immoral, neo-cons. I know there are crooks on both sides of the aisle, but in my 62 years I don't ever remember seeing the extreme number of illegal activities and how they were simply ignored by this administration. Some were not ignored but were actually rewarded! Thank you. In the struggle. Renee

Congratulations. You did well but the Voters job is not done.

I have been Very Impressed with the leadership of
ProgressNowAction.org

Your projects to expose the rampant corruption in the current Administration have been very effective. Keep up the great work.

The Voters Work however is never done.

Members of our PNA Group,
1stProtestInTheStreet.org
who organized
The Colorado Impeachment Coalition
believe that

Impeaching Vice President Cheney at least,
is The Only Way To Stop The Iraq War
and Protect Our Rights and Constitution
( and run against Bush if you must).

Those of us who worked so hard
to elect Democrats to Majority Control
of both US House and Senate

Have A Right To Be Angry at
Our Congressmen/Women Who
Refuse To Impeach

And Senators Who
Refuse To Protect Our Rights.

It seems that the GOP's Neocons Moved Left
into the Democratic Party after Nov '06.

We MUST Find A Way To Put
Enormous Pressure On
Democratic Congressmen/Women and Senators
to Impeach and Protect Our Rights.

If the DEMOCRATS do not protect our rights and repudiate the Bush/Cheney crimes by Impeachment,
You May Be Sure

They Will NOT DELIVER on HEALTHCARE REFORM
or ANY OTHER Badly Needed Social or Economic Issue. This is a political Game to them.

TELL THE DEMOCRATS "You WANT CHANGE".

A good place to start is by attending the big

Rally (IMPEACH) To Stop The Iraq War
Sat. 10/27 at 11:30 am at East Colfax & Broadway West Side of the State Capitol, Music & Speakers,

Get your

FREE "IMPEACH!" SIGNS for All (long as they last)

Robo-Blogging 2

Geez, maybe this could be called blog-jacking (get it hi-jacking). Just throw out a totally irrelvant reply to a blog to try and redirect the conversation to your obession. Again, it's sloppy and rude.

Again, I maintain...The Current Simple-Majority of Democrats in the US Congress Cannot/Will Not produce Impeachment

The rants of the obsessive cannot erase the fact that the GOP members of the Senate will never cower to produce the necessary super-majority (60-votes) to impeach the current occupant of the White House. Neither will the US House Leadership squander all other legislative efforts to appease the most radical and marginal by driving the House into the chaos of impeachment hearings. The obstructionist minority GOP House radicals are making it hard enough to pass budgets and health care. Get a dose of reality.
