Remember last year, and the "emergency" revisions to voting regulations that were sent out to prevent those masses of fraudulent voters? Remember all the handwringing about bogus registrants, doublevotes, inmate voters? What did it all actually amount to, you ask?
The state election office said Thursday that an investigation found that 31 people serving criminal sentences illegally tried to vote, and six people tried to vote twice. The numbers do not include Denver. A separate survey of all 64 counties found that an additional 119 people serving criminal sentences illegally tried to vote, and 152 people tried to vote twice. In El Paso County, the Clerk and Recorder's Office reported finding 23 people serving criminal sentences who tried to vote, and four people who tried to cast multiple ballots. Out of 300,000 new registered voters. Sound like a crisis to you? Of course they say that it was their swift action to "prevent fraud" that resulted in the number being so low. But didn't they prosecute every case they could? And isn't this all they found? What happened last October in Colorado was pure voter intimidation by our Republican Governor and Secretary of State, who as it turns out were far more worried about whether Bush would take Colorado than they needed to be. They pushed this as hard as they could without Mississippi-style poll taxes and literacy tests, and they did it with no basis in rational fact. And now you know it. Still got any outrage left?
