Triumph of the will

The blog-right has heard enough -- this is war, and they don't want to hear any of this "misled the American people" or "impeachable offense" schlock. They've given themselves over fully -- they've forgotten what they themselves said in 1998 about Presidents who lie, what Bill O'Reilly said would be "hell to pay" if we never found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq...they are in tunnel-visioned belligerent denial mode.
Trying to reason with these people is likely to net yourself a hoarse voice and a fat lip for the next few weeks.
Here's Mark Noonan at Blogs for Bush. He means it.
My instinctive desire to engage this inane smack-talk at its own senseless level is complicated by the same sort of apprehension Lincoln must have felt right before Fort Sumter was shelled.
This is what the Founding Fathers warned us about, isn't it?
While not quite out of the bag, the word "impeachment" is in the air - mostly in the fevered air of leftwing Democrats, but as leftwing Democrats control the Democratic Party, it only stands to reason that before long we will see senior members of the Democratic Party call for the impeachment of the President. We have reached the breaking point in American political life - while we still may pull back from the abyss, it is becoming ever more clear that we are in a (thus far) non-violent civil war for the soul of the United States. On one side stand those of us who live in the real world, on the other side those who live in a sick, anti-American fantasy world with themselves cast as saviours of humanity.
I say to the left - "bring it on"; there's nothing you can do to us which will sway us from our course. We are doing the right thing, we will win this War on Terrorism in spite of you - and, furthermore, we will reform this country in accordance with conservative principles. A few week-kneed people may fall by the wayside, but the overwhelming majority are ready for a fight to the finish.
