URGENT: Call for Beauprez to Replace Extremist Running Mate

Bob Beauprez demonstrated his poor judgment and the continued disorganization of his campaign when he failed to properly vet Janet "Jim Welker" Rowland before announcing yesterday that she will be his running mate.

Jim Welker is the Colorado State Representative (R-Loveland) who was shunned by his own party in 2005 for using stories such as a "lady in India marrying her dog" to polarize the question of marriage during budget debates at the State Capitol.

Similarly Rowland, as a guest on a PBS program last March, rambled on about a "man to marry a sheep" when asked about the merits of domestic partnership. Beauprez's spokesperson claimed last night that "she regrets" the remarks.

Selecting such a careless extremist like Rowland not only further divides our state but represents the agenda that cost Colorado millions of lost tourism dollars due to Amendment 2 back in the 1990s. The type of remarks Rowland made have been disavowed by even the most conservative in her party for their hateful nature and potential damage to the reputation and economy of Colorado. Seems everyone knows that except Bob Beauprez.

Call on Beauprez to replace Janet "Jim Welker" Rowland today:

Link

Colorado cannot afford to have this type of careless extremism in our State Capitol. Beauprez has until close of business today to replace his embarrassing choice of a running-mate:

We will deliver this petition to Beauprez and the statewide media at 4:00PM today, an hour before the legal deadline to replace his running mate.

Running Mate

I say don't give Beauprez a hard time about his running mate. It shows the extreme direction he wants to take this state and his true colors. I believe people are getting tired of extreemism and are looking for a change. We all know Beauprez isn't what this state needs; so I say keep the Ann Coulter-like running mate. It makes Ritter look more stable and the better choice for Colorado.

It took Both-Ways-Bob long enough to announce his running mate, and is this is the person he came up with? This reflects poorly on his decision-making skills as a leader and shows he wouldn't make up his mind as a Governor.

Living in Mesa County, I can attest that Janet Rowland is by no means "Ann Coulter-like", but she is not qualified to be "one heartbeat away" from the Governor's chair.

My guess is Mr. Beauprez thought Janet would match up well against Barbara O'Brien by virtue of her experience as the public face of the Mesa County Human Services Dept. before she was elected County Commissioner. So she's got some plausible connection to "caring for children", whether real or perceived. Also, she fits the mold of a conservative republican from the Western Slope who backs the right horse in neo-con terms, judging from her support of Josh "Golden Boy" Penry in a recently contentious primary for a state senate seat.

Ralph D'Andrea at Link has some excellent observations about Janet. Check him out.

Also, once she loses the June Cleaver wardrobe she's pretty easy on the eyes. I saw her at the mall once and she fills a pair of jeans rather well. Maybe with some more practical experience she can be the ridiculous right's answer to Ana Marie Cox.

Baaaahhh!

My only regret is that Ms. Rowland apologized for the sheep remark. If you're gonna make a right-on observation, have the balls to stick to it.

"Right on-observation?" Hmmm...I can see why you live in a bubble and none of the homosexuals around you have come out to you if that is your true feeling regarding homosexual realtionships. I am getting very frustrated with the ignorance in this country regarding homosexuality. Bestiality and homosexuality are not even close to being the same, so use a dictionary and get to know some homosexuals before making the backwater comparison.
