Call for Musgrave to ask for Hastert's Resignation:

Call follows Speaker's visit to her district

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Denver:
ProgressNowAction called for Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave to ask Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert to step down from House leadership. The group launched a petition to thousands of people in Musgrave's district days after Hastert campaign with Musgrave in her district.

"That Hastert protected Foley and left children to fend for themselves is so outrageous even national conservatives are calling on Hastert to resign as Speaker," stated Michael Huttner, Executive Director of ProgressNowAction. "Musgrave needs to defend American values and ask Hastert to step down."

Just over a week ago Marilyn Musgrave campaigned with Hastert in her district and touted her record of "defending American values." But so far, Musgrave has been silent about Hastert's scandalous cover-up and failure to stand up for children.

This past weekend the Washington Post reported what Congressional Republican leaders apparently already knew--that House Speaker Dennis Hastert has covered up inapprorpriate sexual conduct involving Republican Congressman Mark Foley and young boys serving as House pages.

The petition, Link , asks Musgrave to call for Hastert's immediate resignation from leadership and return the money she raised from his visit.

Demanding U.S. Speaker Of The House J. Dennis Hastert & All Others Involved In Former Rep. Mark Foley Travesty for Their Immediate Resignations

The following are quoted from U.S. House Representative and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, J. Dennis Hastert,

"Congress has always been for the people and by the people. And in keeping with the great traditions of our country, we need to keep it that way."

"You see, we all want the same things. We want to be able to take care of our families, provide for our children....."

We the undersigned wholeheartedly agree with Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert, that the Congress always has been and always will be for the people and by the people and that we need to keep it that way. We also concur with the Speaker that we all want the same things which we believe more than anything else is to take care of our families and provide for our children, so please explain to us how the Speaker and his Aides could blatantly and negligently disregard their duty by allowing a dangerous pedophile, former House Representative and reprehensibly the Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children Mark Foley to continue in power for so long after the Speaker and his Aides, as well as, U.S. House Representative and National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Reynolds and others knew former Rep. Mark Foley was having inappropriate "over friendly" communications with a teenage child.

We the undersigned believe any private communication between a grown man, especially in a position of power, and a young teenage boy is not only extremely inappropriate but as the public has recently found out criminal and the Speaker himself has admitted to knowing about Rep. Mark Foley's inappropriate interactions with a teenage boy since the Spring of 2006.

We the undersigned believe that Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert and his Aides irresponsible inaction in regards to finding out exactly what was in the inappropriate emails originating from a member of the Congress the Speaker oversees is inexcusable. Furthermore the Speaker and his Aides lack of vigilant diligence in regards to never having a formal inquiry brought from the moment the Speaker was made aware of this predator's so-called "over friendly" communication with a teenage child is disgracefully unjustifiable.

Everything I have described above is documented proof that a man that I once considered to be a great legislator and leader of our country was not just derelict in his duty, but complicit in putting children in danger. What is our country and its freedom mean without it's future, our children, being protected from pedophiles like former Rep. Mark Foley especially in the Halls of The United States Capitol? Speaker of the House, J. Dennis Hastert and his hand picked staff not only failed at their job, they failed at protecting our innocents and their future.

In the words of the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush,

"Use power to help people. For we are given power not to advance our own purposes nor to make a great show in the world, nor a name. There is but one just use of power and it is to serve people."
-George W. Bush -

Former U.S. House Representative and Missing and Exploited Children Caucus Chairman Mark Foley, U.S. House Representative and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives J. Dennis Hastert and his Aides, and lastly U.S. House Representative and National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Reynolds failed their President, our great country and its innocent children miserably.

Each and everyone of the undersigned from the United States of America ask for the immediate resignation of the Speaker of the House, J. Dennis Hastert, his Aides, all others involved, and for a full non-partisan inquisition into how far this heinous travesty runs.
