Disabled American Veterans has an initiative called "Stand Up for Vets." (http://www.standup4vets.org) For politician's it's pretty simple - it asks that they pledge to support the troops by taking the following actions:

"As an elected official, I will support legislation to:
• Properly screen and treat the psychological wounds of our veterans, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD);
• Properly screen and treat all veterans who may have suffered traumatic brain injury (TBI), including all who may have suffered a "mild" TBI - using the most effective techniques and treatments;
• Provide comprehensive support to family caregivers of severely wounded and disabled veterans, including access for family caregivers to mental health care services and financial support programs;
• Fix the federal budget process to make veterans health care funding sufficient, timely and predictable.

We must keep faith with the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. I pledge to take all actions necessary to ensure that veterans health care remains the "best care anywhere.""

Simple, straight and to the point. So far 5 Senators (4 Dems, 1 Ind) and 22 Congresspersons ( 15 Dem 7 Rep) have signed on, with several pledging to do so when business opens on the House & Senate floors.

What doesn't surprise me is that Sen. Obama is one of the signatories. This is a man who chose Veterans Affairs as his committee, when he had the choice of any of them. And he has delivered to Veterans and the Military.

What also doesn't surprise me is that Sen. McCain has not. This is a man who is a disabled vet, a retired Navy officer, and who has been numerous committees involved in with Veterans, POW/MIA, Military and Foreign Affairs. And he has consistently voted against all of them.

Now, who should Vets and the Military be voting for?

My Vote is Locked on Target: Obama-Biden

Empty words are consistently the mode of operation for the McCain-Palin campaign. Taking action, making the right decision and committing to worthwhile policies and programs is why I, as a 26-year Army and Army Guard Veteran, will do everything that I can to get Barack Obama and Joe Biden Elected.

And I will see you there on the front lines of this fight, my friend, for this is one battle we can never afford to lose. We must succeed in getting Obama/Biden into the White House and McCain as far away from it as possible..
