Did it REALLY happen? Is That Cabal of psychopathic neo-cons REALLY GONE?

I watched as Bush smirked through Obama's speech; as he gave one final attempt to scam the few fools still listening; and as he flew out waving...

The crowd slowly building into song....there were 1.8 million voices out there...hopes high; trying to believe that it is all over....

But it isn't over....not by a long shot

That cabal of blood thirsty vipers isn't gone. They infested the very heart of the nation like some virulent disease, an Ebola of the national soul.
And like any infection, it will encapsulate, hiding in the tissues of the country until our guard is gone; we lose memory of the illness and pain; and we stop taking care. Once any weakness is shown, it will spread once again, infiltrating like a cancerous growth.

That disease invading in 2000 is NOT new. It was here in 80's with HW, Cheney and friends; 1968 as Richard Nixon; in the 50's in the guise of McCarthy; in the 30's in the guise of Prescott Bush and Herbert Hoover.

It gets stronger each time it breaks out.
FDR allowed Prescott Bush and his cronies to fade out without holding them liable for their crimes from partnering with Hitler to planning a coup; McCarthy faded away in shame but those who assisted him in destroying the lives of thousands of citizens with false claims of "communist" and "treasonist" went on to careers to include president (Ronald Reagan) and a wealthy producer, studio owner and theme park mogul (Disney) without ANY ramifications; Nixon's crimes are well documented but he was pardoned immediately, never serving any time for his crimes against the country and the Constitution, living out his life under the protection of secret service paid with taxpayer money on a pension paid with taxpayer money - some of his cohorts may have done a little penance but they, too, lived a life of luxury in Southern California, while others went on to continue the manipulation of the vote and lies to the people (Karl Rove).

Now we have GW Bush, self proclaimed hero that admits to approving torture, lied to the American people and to Congress, is responsible for destroying a sovereign nation, killing over 1,000,000 and displacing over 2,000,000 more in Iraq, manipulating the citizenry with fear to push through his agenda of removing our rights promised by the Constitution - from illegal wiretaps to the removal of our right to a fair trial; from restricting our freedom of speech to stealing our treasury and giving it to his friends, cohorts and family through no-bid contracts and contracts with no oversight. He has destroyed our economy, destroyed our air , water and land with lowered standards, auctions of lands, and removal of endangered species from protections. He has destroyed relationships with allies, destroyed our reputation and propped up right winged extremists in Israel, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan......

Now the question is what will OBAMA do about this...will he once and for all say enough is enough and take these people to task? Or will he allow this to slide as well by "focusing on the future" and allowing the past to be ignored?

The ONLY way to finally rid ourselves of this disease is to bring the crime out into the open, investigate, and prosecute to the full extent of the law. And when WE are done, turn them over to the International Courts for the crimes against humanity.

Maybe THEN, we can actually "heal" instead of offering a safe haven for it to fester again

Clarification.

McCarthy didn't fade away... he died an alcoholic, discredited but unrepentent. His cross was taken up by his old crony and hearing table mate Richard Nixon, who also self-destructed in office and whose banner of government-corporate collusion was resumed under Reagan, who now serves as the poster child for everything Republican, but as governor, couldn't make California a right-to-work state (though he tried), or bust the teacher's unions(though he tried), state worker's unions(though he tried) and could only change things by bringing state government to a dead stop at least twice(and ticked off taxpayers in the process)... Great government in action! Try as they may, Republicans can't rewrite their role the depression, the communist witchhunt, presidential scandals, wars, or our current economic woes... they can try to gloss over them by declaring themselves to be the 'party of change' as they have so recently tried to do, but so far... other than Eisenhower and possibly Ford, their legacy of deregulation and 'no government is good government' has financially, spiritually (fundamentally) and morally (ethically) weakened and divided the nation.

Fading away was euphemistic in the way they all fade from the collective memory of too many American voters who continually excuse the behavior and accept the revisionist's history thereby allowing repeat performances every 5 to 10 years. NO ONE EVER takes them to task and their cronies make sure to punish anyone who might confront the fantasy.
There has never been a real concern for "healing the nation" - code for buying enough time to allow them to regroup - Cheney and Rumsfeld along with the entire Bush family had so deeply infested the government that its hard to see any part of it that has not been infected .
Ford was a keen enabler who helped them regain a foothold after Nixon was caught in one too many unexplainable crimes. Pardoning Nixon and welcoming his cohorts into his own administration, whether it was out of stupidity or collusion, gave them the ability to back-stab, con, and blackmail their way in again and build their strategy, infiltrate, and covertly seize more control until it was time to go public and take on the Presidential election...
EVERY time they get caught, they get a slap on the hand and sent off to the corner for a 4 or 5 year time out but every time that is completed, they are back in, stronger than ever and doing more horrendous criminal acts....
I am actually afraid of what they will come up with next time.....A war, torture, destruction of the Constitution stripping our rights while convincing millions that it was for their own good.....
And next time?

If we do NOT stiop them this time, what will it take?
Raping someone on the White House steps in broad daylight? Or murdering someone in the middle of the Senateduring the State of the Union?
