VOTE

There's an election on Tuesday!

If you vote by mail and haven't turned your ballot in yet, hand-deliver your ballot to your County Clerk's office Monday or Tuesday to ensure that it's received in time for your vote to count. Your county may have more than one possible drop-off location for your convenience. If you haven't received your ballot yet, contact your county clerk to find out how to obtain a replacement ballot. Below, we've included some other information that may help.

Retweet this!Whether you're liberal, conservative, progressive, libertarian, or a completely unaffiliated free spirit, vote.

The elections in odd years involve local issues from school boards to city council to county commissioner. There may also be bond issues, initiatives, and referenda--all very local to your city or county. Although elections call to mind voting for President, Governor, and legislature, the fact is that most of what affects our daily lives happens locally. Our schools, our city streets, our zoning boards, even our trash collection are all local issues.

If you don't exercise your right to vote in these local elections, you will miss the best opportunity you will have this year to affect change for yourself and your family.

Helpful Information
  • According to the Secretary of State, there is an election in every Colorado county except Archuleta, Hinsdale, and Phillips.
  • Most Colorado counties have an all-mail election this year. If you have not received a ballot or information on where to vote, contact your county clerk right away.
  • Your ballot must be received by your county clerk no later than 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd for your vote to be counted. Postmarks don't count.
  • If you already voted by mail, you can make sure your ballot was received on the Secretary of State's secure voter lookup website:
    https://www.sos.state.co.us/Voter/secuVoterHome.do
  • If your county has a polling place election, your polling place may not be in the same location as last year. Contact your County Clerk if you are not sure where you should vote.
  • If you need to contact your county clerk for any of the above reasons, you can find your county clerk's contact information here:

During the week of November 5, Dennis J. Kucinich will introduce on the floor of the House of Representatives a bill to impeach Vice President Cheney(H Res 333). Exercising his right of personal privilege, his courageous act will put members of the House on record. Are they going to fulfill their oath of office to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic or just look the other way?

Our nation and our Constitution are in crisis!

You and your neighbors can make a difference!

Call all of our Colorado Congressmen/women TODAY!

Find a list of phone and fax numbers and staff names here.

TELL COLORADO's CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN
to Vote to debate Impeaching Cheney
Tell them "No Campaign Donations, Votes or Volunteering until after they vote to debate Impeachment on the floor of the full House". They were elected to Stop The Iraq War and get accountability for Bush and Cheney. They haven't delivered on their promises. That they do not have the Votes IS A LIE. It only takes a simple majority in the House to Impeach. Cheney will resign before it leaves the House.

Pelosi's plan to pass a few popular bills and embarass Bush is only wasting time and getting soldiers killed and maimed.

Impeachment is the Only bill that Bush by law cannot veto and the Supreme Court cannot overturn.

Apparently there are voters who appreciate candidates who fight to protect the Constitution and the Separation Of Powers

Kucinich sponsored H Res 333, a bill in the US House which proposes to Impeach Vice President Cheney. None of the other presidential candidates has discussed such a measure.

MoveOn's Petition to: Stop Executive Overreach

MoveOn has distributed this Petition to tell Congress
to demand answers by Subpoena from the Bush administration
about the Iraq war and their illegal spying program, and not back down,
to hold Vice President Cheney in contempt of Congress
and send over the police if necessary,

And if that doesn't work, Impeach the guy.

Well done MoveOn, count me in and tell me what I can do get more Americans to sign this petition.

I hope all MoveOn members will sign this petition now! And have a Great Fourth Of July.

Dear MoveOn member,

You've probably seen the news this morning: President Bush let Cheney aide Scooter Libby, the one man who was convicted for the lies around the Iraq war, go free. Paris Hilton served more jail time than he will.

Bush and Cheney think their administration is above the law. That's un-American, and this July 4th it's time for Congress to re-assert its constitutional authority and
top the administration's obstruction of justice.

Congress can start until they get them. Cheney won't testify? Subpoena him. He won't come? Hold him in contempt of Congress and send over the police.

And if that doesn't work, impeach the guy.

We just can't let President Bush and his administration dismantle our Constitution.

This July 4th, it's time to bring checks and balances back again. Click here to sign the petition and send a message to Congress to act now (the text of the petition is in the box to the right):

Link

Then please send this message to your friends, family, and others who would be interested. This issue has everyone outraged--only 32 percent of Republicans agree with the president's decision.

This isn't just about the Bush administration, of course. Law is determined through precedent. If Congress doesn't rein the Bush administration in, it'll change the rules for every administration that comes after.

And letting Libby off the hook is only the most recent example of a consistent Bush administration pattern of obstruction of justice.

When their illegal program of warrantless wiretapping was revealed, the Bush administration refused to answer subpoenas from Congress to testify about what, precisely, they were doing. When Attorney General Alberto Gonzales--the nation's highest law-enforcement officer--testified in front of Congress under oath, he lied and said the program didn't exist.2

And in retrospect, it's clear what Bush meant when he said this about the Plame case back in 2003: "[I]f there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of."3 Last night, Bush certainly took care of Scooter Libby.

On Sunday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Pat Leahy said he would hold Cheney and others in the administration in contempt of Congress if they refused to directly answer questions. Members of Congress are asserting their authority and standing up.

But they need to know the American people are behind them. Can you take a moment to click this link and send that message right now?

Link

As they say in civics class, America is a country of laws, not of men. It's time for Congress to stand up and use them.

Let's celebrate Independence Day by reaffirming the basic, founding idea of our government: No one, not even the president of the United States , is above the law.

Thanks for all you do.

Something for patriots to do in Denver on July Fourth

All of you who are outraged at the un-Constitutional actions of Libby, Cheney, and Bush should show up at Colorado's longest running Impeachment Rally on July 4th at 5 pm at Colfax & Broadway in Denver.

This event is part of a Colorado Impeachment effort that has been quietly taking place twice a week since Jan 23rd. We have held at least two impeachment events each week in Denver. Join us. Link

We will have signs. You may bring you own. Just show up to show your love of Country. Now is the time to come to the defense of your Constitution and Laws. Cheney, Libby and Bush's Neocons will literally get away with murdering 3,500 US soldiers over Cheney's WMD lies. Don't let them get away with it. Show your outrage. Show up.

Perhaps we may yet prove to Denver's Corporate Media that the Voters Last Resort "Impeachment" is not off the table. Cheney is very vulnerable to Impeachment.

Call 800-828-0498 and tell all of Colorado's Congressmen to become a Co-Sponsor on US Rep Kucinich's Impeach Cheney Bill H Res 333.and if you can find the time, Call All Of the Country's Congessmen to do the Same.

This last week Kucinich's Impeach Bill picked up more Co-Sponsors... It Will Happen.

The Democrats will not be able to ignore Impeachment because of the revelations of un-Constitutional actions by Cheney will come out. They will look like fools if they don't Impeach, and lose in November 2008.

Please Vote to Impeach in the National Cheney Impeachment Poll at

..
In Just eight days four more Democrats have decided to back Impeachment of Vice President Cheney.

The support is steadily building for repudiating all that Cheney and his Neocons have done to the reputation and security of America.

To my knowledge thus far no Colorado Congressman or woman has offered any support for US Rep. Kucinich's Impeach Cheney Bill H Res 333.

Congressman Diana DeGette recently emphatically stated that she will not become a Co-Sponsor on Kucinich's bill.

This just in from David Swanson's blog on AfterDowningStreet.org Link

Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Chair of the Out of Iraq Caucus, has joined Congresswomen Barbara Lee and Lynn Woolsey, the two Co-Chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, as well as Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Chief Deputy Whip and a member of the Steering and Policy Committee, and Congress Members Yvette Clarke, William Lacy Clay, Albert Wynn, and Dennis Kucinich in cosponsoring Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney (H. Res. 333).
For details, see http://impeachcheney.org/

On Wednesday, June 13, Waters and Kucinich plan to hold a press conference in Washington, D.C., to discuss "Renewed Efforts in the House of Representatives to Impeach Vice President Cheney." The event is planned for 9:30 a.m. at the Cannon Terrace (on the outside of the Cannon House Office Building).

The reference to "renewed" efforts may be related to this discussion of impeaching Cheney in which Congresswoman Waters engaged in April 2006: Link

Congreswoman Waters is also a US House Judiciary Committee Member.

Congresswoman Waters has spoken out strongly on this issue since June 16, 2005:

Earlier Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, joined Lynn Woolsey, the other Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and Congress Members Yvette Clarke, Jan Schakowsky, William Lacy Clay, Albert Wynn, and Dennis Kucinich in cosponsoring Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney (H. Res. 333).

The list of state Democratic Parties that have passed resolutions urging impeachment of Bush and Cheney has just grown to 15.

Meanwhile, 11 state legislatures have introduced such resolutions

Many True Conservatives hate what Cheney has done to the GOP and would support impeaching him if the Democrats would lead the way.

Unfortunately Speaker of the US House Nancy Pelosi is the major obstructionist to impeaching Cheney. Pelosi took impeachment off the table one year ago and before the 2006 election. Everyone should be aware of that by now. I'm still not convinced that the Democratic Leadership is aggressively pushing investigations in the WMD lies that got us into Iraq. ( Thats my opion and I'm sticking with it Ralph).

You can reach the members of the House Progressive Caucus by calling 800-828-0498 ( just ask for each of their offices in turn, including Pelosi's)

Two things you can do to help US Rep. Kucinich succeed
in Impeaching Cheney are:

1. Memorize this phone number... 800-828-0498 and use it often.

(it is one of a number of toll free ways to contact
your Congressman/Senator's Office)

2. Call the number and ask for your Congressman
(if you don't know who that is tell them where you live
and they will connect you to the correct office.)

Tell your Congressman to become a 'Co-Sponsor' on
US Rep. Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment.

Then call all other Colorado Democratic Congressmem/women
offices to make the same request.

Then call US Rep. Kucinich's office and leave a message
thanking him for having the guts to do this.

I have used this number frequently and get through quickly.

It should take only a few minutes to say something like..

"My name is John Kennedy of Denver, Co and I support
Representative Kucinich's filing of Articles of Impeachment
against VP Cheney and I urge you to become a Co-Sponsor."

Simple, yes?

Go for it.............
We had a little fun with 'Foxy' the fox today... NO, not That Kind of Fun!

We heard that Frontier was doing a Campaign Interview style promo for the 'Foxy' Frontier's Favorite Animal at the Civic Center today across from the City Hall. So we thought this would be great test of our Concept of Instant Vigils.

We flew downtown and did a 'one indian' to their 'circle the wagons' maneuver. The media types applauded my arrival but grumbled later when they had trouble getting a shot without our signs in the background.

Our sign on one side said.

Call Foxy and tell her to
Stop the Iraq War
and impeach Bush

and on the other side

Call Foxy and say
Stop the War and
impeach Bush.

Amazing the amount of eyeballs these signs got.

It was Fun...
you all shoulda been there.

Maybe next time, eh! Join Us.
Impeachment can be fun.

1stProtestinTheStreet.org
is having a MeetUp 7 pm TONIGHT at the Hooked On Colfax Coffee House (w/ Free Wifi ) at 3215 East Colfax Ave, Denver. Anyone interested in the possibility of holding Bush and Cheney accountable for their crimes is welcome to join us. We believe that we can put enough public pressure on our US Representatives we might be able to cause a Bill of impeachment. ( Yes..especially the Democrats we elected... the ones who dissed Bush/Cheney so, who now are Congressmen who have the power to Impeach).

We are doing two weekly vigils so far, one on
">Link
Wednesdays at Noon at the State Capital in Denver and on Link
Thursdays at Noon at US Rep. DeGette's Denver Office at East 6th & Grant. The purpose of the Wednesday and Thursday Vigils is to attract the attention of our State Legislature. our two Daily Newspapers, and the public. We hope that someone in the Legislature will carry a bill to ask the US House to begin proceedings on Impeachment (as New Mexico's Democrats are doing).

We hope the newpapers will consider that if Bill Clinton can be brought up on Impeachment for lying about sex... then perhaps the more serious offense of lying to Congress ( and Voters) just before a vote on War Resolution should require the same journalistic attention.

We hope the public will begin to see that this ( lying to Congress) is a more serious matter even than the Iraq War itself (if that is possible). The previous 'do nothing' Republican Congress was not much of a check on Bush's Imperial ambitions and our current Democratic Congress' Leadership would like to ignore impeachment and 'move on 'as they say, and hope it just goes away. What they are trying to ignore is the fact that all of Bush's lies and Signing Statements add up to a huge expansion of Presidential Power. We need to protect our grandchildren from the future Imperial excesses of the next President RunAmuck, regardless of which party they come from.

We need to put the Fear Of Impeachment into all future presidential candidates.

Bush doesn't think the Congress will call his bluff and impeach him, so he will push his supposed 'powers' to the limit. Democratic leaders in the House and Senate are kidding themselves if they think he will back off. And even if he does, shouldn't he be held accountable for lying to Congress about a War resolution in the first place... to prevent this from recurring? And about the 700 plus Signing Statements. Saying he will ignore US Laws, after taking an Oath to Uphold them.

I'll stop now....

See you tonight at Hooked On Colfax,
and Wed. at the Capital,
and Thursday at DeGette's Office

PS... We've already started getting Push Back, from Democrats no less, about Vigiling in front of DeGette's Office. Why her they say... Well.. she is in a 'safe' seat, she now has powerful positions on very important Congressional Committees. She Can support this without endangering her re-election far more than other Democratic US Reps.

As a lifelong Democrat, I've voted for DeGette in every election and carried signs for her and probably will do so in the future. I think she is Super. However, I think she and all the other Democratic Reps will duck Impeachment if we let them. We will Vigil at other Colorado US Representative's offices as soon as we have the volunteers (all of them).
join us.
