Like any good blog post on pot, this one comes a day late.

Denver's Initiative 100 passed on Tuesday.  It was a good day for pot smokers. But for those who like to blame the ills of the world on weed, I doubt Initiative 100 has anything to do with why the Denver Election Commission is still counting ballots.

SAFER (Safe Alternatives For Enjoyable Recreation) head Mason Tvert, who leads the charge to legalize marijuana, is a brilliant, brilliant person.  Even the NY Times thinks so.  I mean, they wrote about him the day before the election.  Denver's other golden boy, John Hickenlooper, didn't get ink in the NY Times the day before the election.

DENVER — In 2005, voters here approved a measure making it legal for an adult to possess an ounce or less of marijuana. But arrests for misdemeanor marijuana possession have risen since then.

Now, voters are to decide on a ballot measure that would make possession of small amounts of marijuana the lowest enforcement priority for the police.

“People didn’t want anyone arrested,” said Mason Tvert, executive director of Safer Alternative for Enjoyable Recreation, a pro-marijuana group that sponsored the 2005 measure and is sponsoring the latest one. “That’s what they voted on.”

For the second time in 3 years Denver voters have said let folks have a little weed.  Now we get to wait and see if this was just another token measure.  Let's hope it's more than that.

We had a little fun with 'Foxy' the fox today... NO, not That Kind of Fun!

We heard that Frontier was doing a Campaign Interview style promo for the 'Foxy' Frontier's Favorite Animal at the Civic Center today across from the City Hall. So we thought this would be great test of our Concept of Instant Vigils.

We flew downtown and did a 'one indian' to their 'circle the wagons' maneuver. The media types applauded my arrival but grumbled later when they had trouble getting a shot without our signs in the background.

Our sign on one side said.

Call Foxy and tell her to
Stop the Iraq War
and impeach Bush

and on the other side

Call Foxy and say
Stop the War and
impeach Bush.

Amazing the amount of eyeballs these signs got.

It was Fun...
you all shoulda been there.

Maybe next time, eh! Join Us.
Impeachment can be fun.

How Does It Work?

Smoke a joint. Don't smoke schwag.

Yeah, right. You just want to turn me into a pothead.

No...this is about stupidity. There's 8,000 years of evidence of it's most excellent properties. Most people that have objections about using marijuana have never smoked it. They rely on information that has been debunked and even ridiculed. Marijuana is legal in Denver and it's not addicting so go ahead, spark one up. You won't be stupid anymore.   Read More »
