Four to Eight-times Expected Turnout for Free Food in Weld County

The anticipated turnout for the free final harvest at a Platteville farm was 5,000 to 10,000 but the more than 40,000 that came out resulted in an early shut down of the event.

The article in The Boulder Daily Camera has more.

The giveaway was inspired by rumors of food bank supplies having been stolen from a nearby church.

Needless to say, this holiday season is going to be very tight. When was the last time you toned your generosity muscle?

New York Post Special Edition: Wars Are Over

This morning my text message inbox was flooded with strange messages about pick-up times and drop-off locations in Manhattan. Yesterday, I rcvd an email about meeting at Union Square instructing me to bring a large bag with which I can haul as many newspapers as possible. I forgot that a few months ago I signed up to receive updates from The Yes Men .

Here is their press release ,a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlUQ2sUti8o">here is a link to some of their work available on youtube and their wiki page :

Colorado Blog Roundup n Stuff

Here is a quick roundup of some local blogs and interesting things of note: An update on allegations of drilling making Coloradans ill. Squarestate illuminates about the MSM potentially dimming the Denver DNC limelight. Also from S2 FISA and our own Salazar's capitulation. No surprise there. Congressional censorship: Slashdot has a little ditty about Pelosi trying to prevent Congressional office holders from broadcasting information via tech tools. I don't know about you but if The Speaker is dealing with some drama in the house, I would like this information to be funneled directly to my handheld device, please and thank you! Please feel free to comment away and let me know about any other Colorado blogs I should be following.
  Thanks for tuning in!

Another Way to be an Inspired Democrat

If you haven't read this inspiring post, then do. And after you read it and get over my shameless self-promotion, sign up for some of these related events by sending an email to RSVP.

Democrats Work is a small but potently dedicated organization that does community service events in the name of Democratic values. It is an organization of Democrats who are getting together, making interpersonal connections in the community and dedicating themselves to bettering America from the bottom up-- not the top down .

By signing up for one of our events, you are effectively helping your community, meeting your neighbors, and engaging in one of the most fundamentally of political activities: getting together with fellow Americans and doing something positive for a change!

How fun is that?

Very fun .

McCain Enters The Petroleum Club

This evening in Denver, John McCain courted the Denver Petroleum Club for some big energy kickback campaign funds . Not-so patiently awaiting his arrival were some protesters from the AFL-CIO and ProgressNow . I was caught in the mix with my crappy video camera and managed to get some fairly humorous footage . In the following video, I love how the sea parts right in front of me as McCain heads towards the door, nearly running into my lens with his walnut cheeks .

The girl at :20 was not at all happy with the crowd.

Progressive Bloggers and Corporate Watchdogs

One of the easiest ways to be an activist everyday is to spend money on products and services that come from companies that practice a progressive business model. When a company incorporates environmentalism, equal employment rights, human rights around the world, and gives back to the community that sustains it, the economy is strengthened, our children are safer and our country is freer.

Historically a great source for information about a company's political practices has been BuyBlue.org . Once defunct, BuyBlue.org has found a new home in The Mile High City and is hiring!
