One hour and One Mile

Evergreen Peace Joins Nationwide Demonstrations to Mark Three Years of War in Iraq

More than 35 people gathered in Evergreen, Colorado for one hour to walk one mile to help end the war in Iraq. This is typically a conservative mountain town and the number of honks we get usually is the gauge for the response to our walks. Leaning over backward to be fair to the other side, estimates are that those driving by were 90% positive towards our presence in the downtown area. One peace sign even came from a Hummer. "Enough," "No More War," and "One Nation Under Surveillance" were the main themes of the Saturday, March 18th gathering to commemorate three years of war in Iraq. The number of participants was more than double the number of past events. Mountain area residents hope to send a clear message to Congress and the White House that the war must end. Troops Out Now!

Saturday, March 18th 10:30 AM DEMONSTRATION

CAN YOU GIVE ONE HOUR AND WALK ONE MILE TO HELP END THE WAR IN IRAQ?

Several Evergreen Progressives have responded that they will attend this Saturday's demonstration. We really hope that you ALL will come. It is important to have a good showing in our mountain town to drive home the message that we are unhappy with a pre-emptive war based on lies and having no clearly defined mission. Actually, we don't like war, killing civilians, disrupting the environment, etc. Let's help make 2006 the year this war ends.

Meet on the north side of Evergreen Lake, walk to the Bridge at Hwy 73 & 74 for a demonstration, and then walk back. Children are very welcome!
