DENVER: The tenth installment of ProgressNow Colorado's "18 Holes With Joe Coors" campaign comes back to Colorado congressional candidate Joe Coors Jr.'s support for a radical abortion ban in Colorado--which Coors is trying desperately to flip-flop on as women in the Seventh District reject his campaign.
"Joe Coors, Jr. is running away from his once-proud support for banning abortions even in cases of rape and incest," said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Joanne Schwartz. "After a television news station 'Truth Tested' an ad against Coors, Coors backtracked on his prior support for the so-called 'Personhood' amendment, and claimed that he 'now' supports exceptions for rape and incest victims."
"It's a classic case of a politician flip-flopping on their controversial past as an election nears," said Schwartz. "But it's not going to work. Joe Coors, Jr. personally supported and helped finance a campaign in 2010 to ban abortion without exception for cases of rape and incest, and even to outlaw many common forms of birth control. Flip-flopping just before the election is an insult to the intelligence of every woman in the Seventh District."
"As Ken Buck learned the hard way in 2010," said Schwartz, "women will not forget."
